Hi All,
Long time lurker, posting a query for PR prospects with below profile, anything I can do to improve this?
- Male (35), Female (34), Male Child (<1 year)
- Race: Indian
- Husband - Working in Analytics & Consulting domain in financial services, salary $180++
- Wife working as a research professional in IT company, though she’s not in software. Salary $90k
- Been in Singapore for 3.5 years
- Most of my investments are in India; but I have a small proportion (20%) in US stocks managed through an SG broker. Should I increase this?
I could have (should have) applied in 2024, even with a rejection I could have a stronger profile with addition to family and a recent promotion at work. I’m beating up myself over it.
My question is: Should I apply in 2025 (now) given it’s election year and someone casually mentioned that lower approvals this year (no data to substantiate this).
Anything I can do to increase my chances? I have been promoted twice in 3 years and a good salary increase (which I’m thankful for) - I can get employer to mention this but I’m not sure it matters to ICA.
Happy to answer additional questions, look forward to hear from the Gurus

Generally low as you are competing with fellow Indians with similar profiles.
Having a son doesn't guarantee anything.
Your occupation may not be what SG sorely needs.
Stock investments only benefits yourself, not SG. Unless you're Facebook co-founder Eduardo Severin level of rich where he most likely got PR via global investor program (GIP), you can forget about your traditional investments being enticing to SG.
Just remember PR is a stepping stone to citizenship, to sink roots into SG. Not just for subsidies which are a bonus but never should be the only reason to get PR.

Hey, thanks for inputs. Agree, the profile would be similar to many more applications which is what’s holding me from trying.
For the point on investment, you misunderstood it. It’s not about how much money do I provide to SG as investment, which you rightly mentioned doesn’t matter and let’s face it that anyone with that level of money won’t be asking or answering questions on this forum lol.
If you notice my question is about the % split of remittance vs retention, if that would make any difference to showcase your intention to stay long-term. Feel free to add if you have views on that.
Lastly, I don’t think anyone applying PR would be (or should be) doing it purely for subsidies if they don’t intend to stay and sink roots and make this country home - totally agree with your point

You’ll be surprised how many people want PR for subsidies and other perks.
Again, SG doesn’t care about where your stock investments are. It makes money for yourself, it doesn’t “help” SG in any shape or form.
If you have the money then feel free to apply for PR and treat the application fee as a donation of sorts. Never applying will mean the outcome will always be no. Applying will be maybe no, maybe yes to PR. Just sit back, relax, and wait.

Your remittances don't even show up in the application for PR. They don't know what you do with your money. They don't have access to your bank account.

Brother, piece of advice.
Don't change how you live your life for a PR. ICA simply doesn't care.
Government agencies in Singapore do not encroach on your personal information. No one knows how much money you have in your bank, how much money you remit.
Don't bring suffering to yourself or your family to "appear a certain way." It almost never works out for anyone in any way.

Look at “firm related attributes” which only the company itself will be able to assess.
