African American Hair

Post by lewis018 » Tue, 02 Feb 2010 11:23 am

I am an African American women and I visited Singapore for the first time about 6 months ago. I had been on a long trip with stops in China before arriving. I looked for a hair dresser and found an add on gumtree.com. I will be visiting again in a couple of weeks and look forward to visiting the salon while I am there.

Singapore was a great city-state and it was well worth the stares! All the clothes were too short though, so it put a dent in my shopping!

friends in SIN

Post by charliegirl » Mon, 26 Jul 2010 11:07 pm

Hi everyone,

I moved to Singapore mid-May 2010, from South Africa (yip - silly enough to move just before the World Cup!).
It's a bit challenging to find African friends to do things with; etc.
Anyone who's experiencing the same challenge/knows the right places people hang out/just wants to do coffee,
i'd sure welcome meeting new people.
please feel free to shout.

Not sure if anyone still follows this thread but I'm an African-American male from the US looking to meet up with some other US people. Moved to Singapore Aug 5th, still learning my way around.

It is on a backstreet in the corner behind Mustafa on Serangoon Road, and Park Royal on Kitchener Road.

As you walk north it is on the right at the end of the small street. First time I passed it I have to say I did a double-take. It is pretty gritty, totally open to the street, and I remember reading that it is where Africans that get scammed into moving to SG (advance fees for work) tend to hang out.

Looking at a map I'd hazard a guess it is Verdun Road.

Normal braids (African) with hair extensions. Do you do them? What do you mean by BKK?
