First-Time PR Application – Seeking Advice

Post by mp4390 » Tue, 04 Mar 2025 10:57 am

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting on the forum, and I truly appreciate the wealth of insights shared here. I am preparing to submit my first PR application and would love to hear your thoughts on my chances of approval. Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Here are my details:

Race: South Korean
Nationality: South Korea
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Marital Status: Single
Education: Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mathematics & Operations Research from a U.S. university ranked in the top 10 globally
Occupation: Quant Trader at a top trading firm (Jump Trading / Citadel Securities / Optiver)
Annual Compensation: Prefer not to disclose exact figures, but TC of $450,000+
Length of Stay in Singapore: 2 years
Length of Employment in Singapore: 2 years

I would be grateful for any insights on my application prospects, as well as any tips that might strengthen my case. Thank you in advance for your time and advice!

There's not much to do but just apply. Unfortunately, you are in the "O" group, which has a limited number of spots each year. Being single won't help either and your stay is relatively short. Objectively, it won't be easy.

Good thing is you are well educated and have a nice first/early years job (many congrats).

I believe there are some Koreans that have got through (i.e. obtained PR) over the years, but the pool is probably pretty competitive as well (my sense is that many prefer/would like to setup camp here).

Good luck and regards.
