Enquiry on possible outcome of PMLA

Post by SK1120# » Wed, 19 Feb 2025 2:00 pm

Hi all,
I am 22 years old (turning 23 this year). I've been in Singapore for my entire life. Was PR initially but got my citizenship last year in 2024. My entire family (Mom, Dad, Sibling) is here for the past 25 years but they are all Singapore PR. I am completing my undergraduate degree in April and have secured job offers for Associate Psychologist and Case Worker. I will start work in May and my salary is around 3.8K to 4K.

My fiance is in India and he is the same age as me. He has a Bachelors in Engineering and has worked as a Project Engineer in the elevator industry for 1.5 years. He is currently working part time as a logistics executive as he is doing a course in network engineering (CCNA).

We have known each other for 6 years and he has come to visit me in Singapore once. I usually go to India once a year for a month to visit him also. So these are the records that ICA might have.

So my questions are:
1. If I apply for PMLA immediately after starting a job (in April end/ May) , will it get approved? Or should I wait for a month for my CPF contribution to be in?
2. Also, we are from different religions (Hindu and Muslim). Will that affect our outcome?
3. Is there a job that I should prioritise more? For example a full time position vs a contract for 1 year.

Recommended to have at least 6 months worth of payslips and CPF before applying PMLA. You need to show you are financially able to support yourself and your future spouse. There are cases of PMLA rejection when SC applies just after starting a new job.

I don’t think religion really matters between SC and foreigner spouse.

Stable job with income matters.

Hi thanks for the reply.
If we do apply for PMLA immediately after gaining employment and it gets rejected, wondering if we can apply for PMLA again after six months? Will the initial rejection play a part in ICA rejecting our PMLA application after six months?

Maybe. Who knows?

Look at the requested documents for LTVP. It already states 6 months worth of payslips. If the applicant cannot understand simple instructions in the form then don’t be surprised by a rejection.

The thing about applying PMLA/LTVP/PR/etc with ICA is to have PATIENCE. You cannot rush these things.

Thank you for your reply! When we apply for PMLA my fiance will be employed in India so we will indicate "employed". But if PMLA gets approved, he will have to leave his job and come here for ROM. This would mean he would be unemployed when applying for LTVP but we will have his six months pay slip to submit. Is this okay? Or should we just indicate it as unemployed in PMLA itself? Or can we submit an explanation letter stating why in PMLA it was indicated as employed and in LTVP as unemployed?
