I submitted my PR application in early July 2024, and it has now been over six months with no updates from the ICA. The system indicates that the usual processing time is within six months, but it also mentions that some applications might take longer.

I’m unsure about what to do next. Should I just continue waiting, or is it advisable to email the ICA to request an update?

Additionally, has anyone received positive results under the new application system? I’d appreciate any advice or shared experiences! [-o<

Hi @rindrawan21, you’re right, I am Vietnamese. I am applying as a whole family.
For your concern, i have many Vietnamese friends who obtained the PRs and many failed too. 😂. Good luck to you and your wife!

Is there an email for ICA because the last one I sent went to to an unmanned mailbox.

As for the OP's question - 11 months is strange. The longest I had to wait was 9 months (for a rejection. Weep).

Reach out to them on the MyICA app or call the number.

The old emails will no longer work. Please use the feedback form on the ICA page (form.sg) to send your enquiry.

Can I use that to appeal rejections too? Thanks.

Yes, you can do that. This will be the only way to communicate with ICA. There is a predefined drop-down list for your enquiry. If you can’t find a suitable option, just select "Others". You can then write your query in detail. You may also attach up to three documents.

Once you submit your enquiry, you will receive an automated reply. After about a week, you will get an email from an ICA officer regarding your enquiry.

It's next to useless to appeal rejections.

Depending on the wording of the letter or email of rejection that you received (eg: "You are welcome to apply again once your circumstances have changed" or "You can continue to live/work here under your existing permit"), you are better off waiting a couple of years, hopefully upgrading your circumstances - promotion, marriage to a SG citizen with child on the way etc - and then applying again.

If the rejection says you are welcome to continue working here under your existing permit, then you are SOOL (sh*t out of luck) and you will probably never get PR and (as we always say here) it will be time for Plan B.
"Both politicians and nappies need to be changed regularly, and for the same reasons."

You might be right, but in my case, I got PR for my wife and kids after 7 applications and 6 appeals, a total of 13 tries.

Finally got it approved on the 6th appeal.

So yes, appeals do work. Don’t give up.

But make sure there’s some change in your circumstances before you submit appeal, otherwise, the chances are almost zero. You can see more details in my other post.

Hi, my wife application is rejected. it seems very difficult for Vietnamese to get PR unless she/he has spouse/kid that is Singaporean

I am not sure about the new system. But for our previous (2) applications under the old system, we had to wait for a year plus. I had an PRC ex-colleague who had to wait for close to 2 years. The only people who hear back within 6 months that I know, are all Malaysian Chinese.

Quick update on my PR application

I’m happy to share that our family’s PR was finally approved, and we received our blue cards this month. 🎉

Family profile (for reference):
• Husband: early 30s, working in a global IT company, living in Singapore since 2019
• Wife: early 30s, not working, moved to Singapore in 2022
• Son: 2 years old this year
• Nationality: Vietnamese
• Education: both graduated from universities in Vietnam

Application timeline:
• Applied: July 2024
• IPA issued: September 2025

This approval means a lot to us—the wait was long but worth it. I didn’t make any inquiries with ICA during the process, just waited patiently.

Thank you to everyone here for the advice and for sharing your experiences—it really helped along the way. I’ll continue to build a strong profile with the aim of applying for Singapore citizenship in the coming years. We truly want to make Singapore our long-term home.

Another update about our PR Application under family Ties scheme

Wife (SG Chinese, 100k Annual Salary)
Husband (South Asian +7 Years in SG - 120k-130 Annual Salary, Currently on EP)
No Children
Age : 40

Application Date : End July 2024
Outcome received : Oct 1, 2025 (Not successful)
I feel perhaps we applied before 2 years of marriage that is one of the (many) reasons for rejection.

We will give it another try after six months.

Is it good idea to apply for LTVP ?
