There are plenty of PRCs who get rejected for PR too.

ICA looks at many other factors, not just race alone. How integrated are you with SG society?

Re-applying right after changing your race with no other substantial improvements to your profile, it’s already quite obvious you are trying to use CMIO quota to your advantage.

@MOCHS Thank you for your comment. I understand that reapplying PR within 6 months is considered appeal application. As ICA mentioned in website that, "if there are changes to your circumstances, you may submit fresh application". So, I just taking this opportunity, for reconsideration under C category.
As for integration part, we did some volunteers work when we got a helper to look after my son. My wife did some blood donations here.

@MOCHS Just to add in that, I've applied PR a few times only with wrong race and all are rejected. I think this time should be right race after investing 14 years in SG.

Lol seriously? Physical appearance is a way for the ICA to verify that you are Chinese? I look Caucasian, but my IC says Indian - I wonder why I never thought of getting myself some white privilege by turning up at Kallang and changing my identity to Caucasian.

ICA doesn’t care about volunteering or blood donations as volunteering has been abused by a certain nationality years ago. This is a misconception that needs to stop.

lol since when does having a domestic helper mean you have integrated?

I’m talking about living and eating like the locals. If you stay in an expat enclave and send kid to International School, are you really integrating?

There are plenty of people who stayed here for more than 10 years and still cannot get PR. Changing your race isn’t a magic pill that will give you PR.

I think there is totally no issue of living and eating styles for us since we have been here for one and half decades. I living in HDB and not sending my kid to International Schools.
I wanted to highlight here is that there has been wrong race for the past 13 years as a mistake. Finally, it turns out to be correct which I should be in initially. It may not a magic pill, I think.

We have seen similar posts, for example, I recall an Indonesian Chinese that didn’t know they should simply list Chinese as their race… so I don’t think your case is unprecedented. We have also seen cases where race was changed to Chinese and the applicant was challenged by the ICA to provide proof. As long as you have that, I don’t imagine it will be an issue. The fact that the main applicant in your case has consistently been classified as Chinese should make your race change less contentious as well.

If it doesn’t get approved, I believe it would be more about how they view Myanmar nationals integrating and succeeding here (they’d probably look at the track record of others with your kind of background, as well as things unique to you).

Hi everyone, would like to know what are my chances of getting my PR Approved (Applied on November 2024):

1. Profile: Male Indonesian Malay (My Stepdad is Malay Singaporean and my Biological mother is Indonesian)
2. Age: 27
3. Visa Status: Currently on E-Pass
4. Education background: Completed my PSLE, O-Level, Polytechnic and University all in Singapore.

To summarise, I have just graduated from NTU in 2023. Prior to that, I was studying in neighbourhood primary and secondary schools and then to Temasek Poly.

I have been staying in Singapore ever since P5 until now. My step-dad and step-siblings are originally Singaporeans, only my mum and I are Indonesians.

Tried to apply for PR back then when I was in Poly but unfortunately it was rejected. I have never tried to apply anymore as the MP advised me to re-apply again once I have my degree and start working.

So yes, its been 2 months and a bit nervous for the results. Anyone have or share the same experience?

I had the same situation during my application.

Since you're holding an MOM work pass, you should update your Race here. MOM will ask you for documentation.

Note that on the new PR system, this information will be obtained from your Singpass when you create the draft. I'm not sure if this will change when an application is already submitted and in progress.

Does MOM ask for specific documentations? What I have on hand is my grandma's SG PR IC which shows the race as Chinese and my family register which shows the link from me to my mom and my mom to my grandma. Wondering if that would be enough.

Edit : the wording from the officer was: "birth certificate, school testimonial, or your parents’ official documents"

Though the family register should help plus you got your grandma's credentials. In my case I submitted my grandpa's papers (especially his Overseas Chinese Registration) and simply linked this to my parents' birth certificates to myself (we don't have family registers in the PH).

Keep in mind that you need to have non-English documents translated, notarised and legalised first.

I applied PR 6 months ago.

Never heard of burmese nurses getting residency but thought to try as I've been here for a decade and will be settling down permanently. Hospital said they will support but did not provide any documents, application was done wholly on my own.

It's been half a year, still under submitted status (not even processing yet!). Has anyone heard of any success stories?

Or should I resubmit my application next month as will be registering marriage with my fiance?

My colleague has been a PR since 2008, and his wife has worked as a nurse in Singapore for 20 years. He applied for PR for his wife and two kids many times from 2012 until 2023, but they were all rejected. Two years ago, after COVID, the hospital asked her to apply again and requested the application reference number. Once the hospital got involved, her PR was approved in just six months.

You should also give your application reference number to the hospital and ask them to write a support letter to ICA. You can update this on the ICA website. Also, don’t forget to upload your marriage certificate once it’s registered. You have a good chance, especially since you work in healthcare. ICA may be strict and might check if it’s a sham marriage, but your profession gives you a better chance.
