PR Application - spouse resigns and stay in SG?

Post by markchen » Mon, 23 Dec 2024 9:58 pm

Hi I am currently working in Singapore on an EP, while my wife has a job in our home country with an income of around 8K. We are planning to apply for PR in a year, but I am uncertain about how to arrange my wife’s employment to maximize our chances of successfully applying for PR as a couple.

Here are the three options we are considering:

1. My wife continues working in our home country (income ~8K).
2. My wife resigns from her job and lives in Singapore on a DP without employment.
3. My wife resigns and finds a WP or SP job in Singapore.

I have heard that the ICA considers the time both spouses spend in Singapore as an indicator of integration, but I am concerned that my wife being unemployed might reduce our chances of approval.

could you please share your advice? Thanks!

1. Not physically in SG, why would PR be granted?

2 & 3. If you're the main applicant, should be okay to try for PR even though wife is unemployed or not earning as much. You must remain employed as a main applicant though.
