PR Application - Spouse Sponsorship

Post by lavenderhaze » Mon, 18 Nov 2024 9:45 am

Hi everyone! I've been lurking here since I submitted my application last year. just wanted to find out if anyone has heard of or experienced this before?

I applied in Dec 2023 as a single EP holder and got married next year to a local. My husband applied for LTVP+PLOC and I got it on Jun 2024. I updated ICA but didn't hear back until 2 months later where I was asked if I wanted to change my application to my husband's sponsorship instead. I took up the offer and the application is still pending until now.

I've seen a thread where someone was asked to change from spouse sponsorship to self sponsorship, but did not notice if there's anyone who experienced the same as mine before. Or let me know if I've missed it

Thanks!

Just wanted to update that I got the approval recently! We're still waiting for the IPA letter to come by post because my husband also can't see the documents in the eservice site.

Congrats.

I still find it peculiar that the sponsor of the PR can be a deciding factor. It seems like a PR application should be judged considering all facts and circumstances, regardless of sponsorship.

Maybe it’s a test to see whether the spouse wants them be a PR. Is it because some spouses do not want to allow their spouse the privilege?

Self sponsor is PTS (professional, technical, skilled personnel) scheme.

Spouse sponsor is family ties scheme.

Probably different algorithm for different PR schemes?

Thanks!

I think in my case, the application was initially under PTS scheme, which is only open for E or S pass holders. When I got my LTVP, I became ineligible for that scheme so either they cancel my application or move me to family ties. I guess I got lucky that it wasn't auto rejected.
