Affordable International School

Post by abbby » Fri, 01 Nov 2024 6:18 pm

My friend is looking for an affordable International School for her young kids as she has 3. Anyone which school offers the most affordable fees in Singapore?

That, my friends, is what we call an oxymoron.

No foreigner should move to Singapore with 3 school aged children unless:

A. The employer is paying for their school
B. The family is wealthy (money ain’t a thang)

There is no such thing as an affordable International School here… even the less expensive ones have gone up substantially, and continue to do so, year after year.

Local schools, which are now roughly half the cost of International Schools, also quickly become unaffordable for larger families, if they can even access them.

What mal said. If cost is a big issue, your friend should probably sending the kid across the border to JB.

There are some. My neighbour is paying for his child to go to Dimensions and it's not too outrageous (Annual tuition fees start at $12,600 for primary, and including all additional fees will cost you $18,532). There's been a few open of this type open up - they're sort of hybrid. The usual International Schools are far more. Another one is Victory Life Christian School. There are some good comparison websites around (which school advisor dot com)

You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Even local primary school now costs $11,820 for non-ASEAN passport holders (for 2025). Imagine being paid $6,000/mo as an EP holder, just your kids school and your housing can easily exceed your income.

This is what I experienced for many years here… it’s just a money pit. Don’t do it unless you must.
