Malaysian Chinese apply LTVP and PR concurrently

Post by jjzzpp » Fri, 25 Oct 2024 4:35 pm

Hi,
SC(25M Chinese) here already married my Malaysian(26F Chinese) wife, we're wondering how high are the chances of PR getting approved if we apply both LTVP and PR concurrently?

Will she still be able to get her LTVP approved while waiting for PR application result?

She's currently under employment in Malaysia, but will move to SG as soon as her LTVP is approved. She comes over to SG every week for the past 2 years to spend time with me, so she's stepped foot in SG before, but have never been employed in SG. Does this affect her PR application?

Any advice on whether should we wait 2 plus years in marriage then apply PR for her to improve the chances,or that apply LTVP and PR concurrently is fine?

We're planning to get BTO, but she has to be PR status for us to BTO, or else we're only eligible for re-sale flats. If we were to wait years to apply for PR and by the time her PR is approved we would be 30++yo by then..............

Anyone with similar experiences or know a thing or two please kindly advise me!!! Thanks lot

Who says you can’t BTO? You can but only limited to 2-room flat in non-mature estate.

While your wife is of favoured race and nationality, the short marriage duration and lack of employment history in SG could be a cause of concern.

This forum member recently applied both LTVP & PR concurrently and ICA informed that the processing time will be based on the PR one (aka at least 6 months) instead of LTVP that usually takes 6 weeks.

If you want her in SG ASAP, then apply LTVP first. Once approved and she’s in SG, with LTVP, wait a while before applying PR.

Did you apply PMLA before marrying? It’ll shorten the LTVP processing time.
