Chances of PR Approval for Experienced Filipino Professionals in Finance Industry

Post by ppam02 » Fri, 12 Jul 2024 1:40 pm

Hi, I would like to get an idea of the chances for my husband and me to be considered for PR status.

Husband: Filipino, working in SG since 2016, in the Finance industry, salary of 13K/month.

Me: Filipino, working in SG since 2019, in the Finance industry, salary of 12K/month.

We are married with no children and have 12-13 years of overall work experience each.

Thanks all for the future responses.

@ppam02

Couple of questions. How old are you and your spouse? How long have you been married?

Were you married in the 'peens before you came down to Sg? Or, did you marry shortly after your arrival here?

Depending on your answers, I guess both of you are in your early to mid 30's and with 12~13 years of work experience for both, I'm guessing you are both degree holders which would probably put you into the work market at 21 or 22 years of age, so I'm guessing 33~35 years of age.

You date of marriage might be a telling factor if you got married shortly after your arrival here. If you married shortly after arriving here (say by 2020) you would have been married around 5 years possibly.

Still no children and you didn't mention being pregnant so I guessing not. Now for my thoughts....

As you know (or should know) the government here allows immigration (e.g., PR & SGC) because they are looking for immigrants to fill in the ranks due to declining birthrates. OR because of highly desirous skillsets. The Finance sector is oversubscribed and not critical at all, so the only contribution you can make to this country is by populating the future of Singapore. PR is a stepping stone to Citizenship and should be looked at it that way. This is why 1st Generation PR generally are given a waiver out of National Service-unless a war is declared. But the male children of those marriages are required to do NS as PRs. Buying homes is not contributing to the country, neither is paying income taxes for that matter) Offspring is the main reason for PR unless you a millionaire or better (then investment in the country's businesses with work as that provided employment for citizens (helps the country).

This is directed to you. At the moment you have about 5 more years of a reasonably safe first pregnancy window. Technically, Ob-Gyns will say after 38 it's dangerous for the 1st pregnancy.

Now, knowing this, if I were an ICA agent assigned to your case, if you have been here 5 years, married, and have not gotten pregnant, you would not be a viable risk to be a future citizen (which is what PR is actually meant for) and you are probably not going to reproduce while you are in good job position. It is what it is. Add to that, you are in the "Others" which is the most highly oversubscribed demographic here. Everybody who doesn't fit into the C or I or M category goes into the O cat. So actually even meeting the married, and offspring benefits, your chances are still substantially reduced.

However, nothing ventured, nothing gained. But just be aware that it going to be like climbing Everest. Uphill all the way.
