Chances of Singapore citizenship as a family unit after 2 REP renewals?

Post by digitalfruits18 » Tue, 09 Jul 2024 9:23 am

Hi all,

Could you all provide some feedback on our chances of Singapore citizenship? We applied as a family unit in July 2024.

- Race: Indian
- Family: Husband (33 years old), wife (36 years old), son (4 years old), daughter (new born)
- Husband (main applicant): PR since 2014 (one round of REP complete) and will complete 2nd round of REP soon as well.
- 2nd round of REP renewal for husband and 1st round of REP renewal for wife and son (after I submit the renewal request as a family unit)
- Husband has been in Singapore since 2008 and has never left Singapore.
- Wife: PR since 2023 (applied under FTS). Wife moved to Singapore after we got married.
- Son: PR since 2023 (applied under FTS).
- Daughter (no status yet as recently born, but will be on LTVP soon)
- Husband annual income: SGD ~300,000 (base) + SGD ~170,000 (discretionary) + equity
- Husband industry: Fintech / Other Financial Intermediaries (US headquarterd)
- Wife annual income: SGD 40,000
- Wife industry: Education (Singapore headquartered)
- Husband education: Bachelor's degree from one of the 3 Singaporean local unis; recently completed 2 professional certifications in Fintech related areas
- Wife education: Master's degree from Europe and Bachelor's degree from India
- Previous applications: Applied (and rejected) twice as a single male but that was the 1st round of REP renewal.
- This is my first application after the first round of REP renewal as well as as a married individual with kids.
- Son born in India, goes to an international preschool
- Daughter born in Singapore

Please could you comment? Thank you all in advance.

Well, the known criteria are:
"benefits to Singapore, the business created in Singapore, the number of Singaporeans employed, as well as the individual’s ability to integrate into society, and commitment to sink roots in Singapore."

You'll know better how well you fit the bill in these areas. One thing I notice is your wife hasn't lived here that long. Bear in mind you're competing against a lot of other skilled people who may have been living here for decades.

Thank you, Jalanjalan. My wife moved here after we got married, but I have been here for 17-18 years now. Given that the application is under my sponsorship (as a family unit), would it matter that she has not spent as much time as I have for citizenship for the entire family (including the 2 kids)? Any thoughts? Thank you.
