REP for PR Main Applicant Living Separated from Family Tied PRs

Post by imaginedragon » Sat, 06 Jul 2024 1:40 pm

Hi all,

I would like to ask questions about REP Renewal.

Below is my profile:

Nationality : Malaysian (Malay)
Age : 38
Occupation : IT Consultant
Family : Married with 2 kids (Son 8 y/o, daughter 5 y/o)
Wife : Not-Working
Working History : Total 9 Years (7 years as EP, 2 years as PR)
Salary : 110K/Annum

So, 2 years ago, I applied PR, along with my wife and my 2 children. I'm the main applicant, so I'm presuming I'm under my PTS/Professional Scheme and my family on FTS/Family Ties Scheme. I have never been ask specifically which scheme I choose when I apply the PR though.

So after 1 year waiting, all 4 of are approved. Now, there are 2 main factors:
1. My wife family is expecting her to go back to Malaysia to continue family business, which is doing well there.
2. The cost of living here is so expensive.

Those combination of pull and push factor will determine our decisions:

Below are my questions:

1. If, after 2 years as PR now, my family go back home to Malaysia, and when the time the REP renewal come in the next 3 years, what will happen to my REP renewal as the main applicant? provided that I will still be residing and working in Singapore? I understand the concept as long as I'm staying inside SG, it's OK for REP to be expired, but I cannot live in Limbo and cannot go out Singapore in the risk of losing PR status.

Is there any cases that REP renewal is shortened to 1 year or even rejected, while the applicant is inside Singapore?

2. What will happen to REP Renewal of my family? I read another thread in this forum, that as long as Main Applicant still in Singapore, it is likely that the family REP renewal will also go through. Is that true? Any insight for this?

3. If my family REP Renewal is rejected, how is the chances for them getting LTVP in the future? Looking by that time, they might have lost their PR status and ICA might have a black mark on their records.

Thanks

1. if u the main applicant are living and working in sg for the next 3 years, no issue for ur REP renewal
2. Very likely will go through if you the main applicant resides and works in SG fully
3. 50-50 chance
