ICA Updated their e-PR system

Post by RikkuG » Sat, 06 Jul 2024 11:37 am

Hi Everyone, I was trying to draft my PR application to check how do I enter fields when I noticed that ICA just recently updated their e-PR system. Some of the things I noticed when I was browsing the website.
  • There's a new UI for the ePR system (more modern I would say :D )
  • Your details are now extracted from Singpass (particulars, current address, race). Special note about race; you cannot edit it anymore unlike the previous version as it comes from your Singpass profile! You also have to provide a 'Dialect Group', most likely this is geared towards Chinese or Indian race; otherwise just add primary spoken language
  • You are required to give much more info to your parents and siblings; race, their occupation (company info, salary, address), education info. I can't comment on Children since I'm single.
  • It seems that the Form 4A, Appendix 1 and Annex A are all gone! It's also interesting to note that a subset of the Annex A data are now fields in your application.
  • The list of education institutions have been significantly reduced, either your Uni appears, or you have to 'manually add' the Uni. I noticed that only reputable Uni's and local SG schools were in the list.
  • Finally, the file upload system has been revamped. Aside from the usual required files, there is a section called "Other Supporting Documents" that allows you to upload 10 files. There is also a slot for "Testimonial" but I presume this is employment testimonials (there is a dedicated slot for your current Employment Letter). I guess you guys can upload cover letters now but I kind of feel this will be abused as hell!
I'm unable to post screenshots here since it's too much to document. But watching the ICA video kind of gives you the idea on how it looks like.

I guess new applicants (like me) could be pleasantly surprised (or not) with the changes.

I wonder how parents and siblings information affects the PR application. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

Basically to see the likelihood of the applicant bringing the entire village to SG if PR is approved.

wow amazing, thanks for the detail explanation I would believe this would be so helpful to those wanting to apply. Yes I agree the cover letters would be abused like crazy..Not sure how it's gonna be assessed..given that not all cover letters are 100% accurate.

I would use the extra file slots as supporting documents such as:
  • Authentication of my Uni Degrees / Masteral Degrees from my home country
  • Professional Certifications (you should also have mentioned this in the application)
Personally, I don't like using Cover Letters coz I find it weird; if ever I'm made to make one, it would be in a form of a 'summary' of my submission and making sure the letter references only what I have submitted. I also I'm a bit worried everyone will go 'certificate shopping' of volunteering etc... which makes it all the more disingenuous.

The website also has other options as dropdown such as School Letters, Financial Docs, I forgot the exact choices.

Also, each file is limited to 2MB. So you guys have to find a way to compress the contents of your files. Not promoting anything but I used PDFGear to edit PDF/Import/Export PDF files and it's free (at the time of this post).

I also don't know if ICA will ask you extra docs if they need some in this new process and how to send this (e.g. do they keep the portal open just like the old system?). I also remember that you are supposed to update ICA if something happens to your job, marital status or pay but I haven't went to that part yet (as I haven't submitted my application  ).

Yes , They have updated their system.

Now , they want to know exact salary of siblings as well. I do not know how much salary my sister earn and I generally do not ask.
It seems this is mandatory field.

Can anyone suggest what can be done in this case when exact salary is not known.
Can approximate salary will do ?

I'm hoping this is a bug. But I can't figure out why ICA would ask this. I'm wondering if this is a deliberate choice.

Here are my theories, please take this with the smallest grain of salt since I can't think like a detective :D
  • Maybe they're checking the economic stability of your family members. Of course, this theory falls short if both of your parents are retirees.
  • They are also checking how well is your relationship with your family (after all, if you can obtain this info, then there might be no problems with you towards them?)
I dunno what else could they be after. But I still agree that the family member's salary should be an optional field.

I am applying via sponsorship scheme (Singapore Citizen Spouse).

Do I really need a recommendation / Reference letter from colleague ?

Aren’t you the same person from Reddit yesterday that asked this question? Even your post is identical copy & paste from Reddit.

I already told you no need. Full stop.

Even if you don’t believe me and search the forum, you’ll find multiple instances where it’s not needed at all. The admins and mods on this forum also agree with that.

No need.
If you were told this by one of those 'consultants', best read this:

Hi everyone, I'm filling out the application and need some advice. If a family member is currently enrolled in a degree program, what should I fill in for their education and employment status? The form only allows for completed education and current employment, so I'm worried that if I don't indicate that, it might make it as if they've been unemployed for years and negatively affect the application. Any suggestions?

Has anyone applied using the new UI? Does ICA still allow you to upload your latest increment or bonus / family status changes?

Hi Fellow Members,

I am an Indian citizen who has been residing in Singapore for over 12 years. I am currently in the process of submitting my PR application through the new e-PR system and have a few questions regarding specific fields:

1. For the Singapore Foreign Identification Number (FIN) field, I have already entered my FIN. However, there is an additional field for a Foreign Identity Card Number. Should I provide any further identification details here? At present, I have entered my Aadhaar details.

2. The new system requests information about my parents and siblings. What should I enter as their Foreign Identification Number?

3. One of my brothers is a British citizen. I am unsure what to enter for his Foreign Identification Number.

4. My parents' passports have expired, and they currently do not have new ones. For the Travel Document details, I have mentioned "No Travel Document."

I would greatly appreciate any advice or guidance you can offer.

Thank you!
