CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION AFTER 2 YEARS OF SPR

Post by Priya1 » Tue, 02 Jul 2024 7:22 pm

Hi All,

I am looking for insights from this forum as this forum has been an excellent resource of information when I got my SPR.

Profile:
Husband - Indian, 3rd party risk manager in global bank ~ 220k SGD
Wife - Indian, Technical Product Owner with a global insurer ~200k SGD
Daughter - Local Primary school, aged 9

EP holders since 2010 and SPR since Aug 2023

We got our Singapore PR after countless tries in 2023 Aug and we are eligible to apply for Singapore Citizenship in 2025 Aug and I wanted insights from the forum for applicants who have been Singapore PR for 2 years. All of our savings are in SGD, in SG markets.

Given that we have lived in the country for over 14 years and willing to apply for the citizenship soon after we are eligibility. We are also Australian PRs which was a backup that we chose to apply as our SPR was rejected many times in the past.
  • What are your thoughts of us applying for citizenship after 2 years of SPR?
Does buying a property add value to the citizenship application?
Appreciate all your inputs and insights.

Thanks a lot community.

I successfully applied for citizenship after 2 years of PR.

Probably worth a shot in my opinion. How old are both of you?

I don't think that having investments in SGD in Singapore have any bearing on your application - the ICA don't ask for that info and neither do they have some special powers to find out on their own. property too is unlikely to have any bearing - "maybe" HDB might be beneficial to kind of signal your ability to integrate. Similarly, your daughter in a local school vs International School might indicate the same thing.

There is no harm applying for citizenship after 2 years, might as well start . Being rejected does not penalise you in future applications as far as I know. Apply well before you reach 50yrs which seem to be the cut off age.
