PR Application Rejected | Support Needed

Hi Everyone,

Sharing my journey for PR application for reference and some inputs to guide us for future.

Nationality: Indian
Age: 39
Employer: MNC
Salary: ~300K (Fixed)
Education: MBA & Engg.
Length of Stay: 3 yr + (at time of application)

Other Info:
Kid: 1 Girl, 7 YO going to International School

I have been in the same organization for last 11 years and they facilitated my moved from India to Malaysia (3 Yrs) to Singapore (3Yrs).

Having stayed in this region for close to 6 years (Malaysia and Singapore) now we thought it makes sense for us as a family to stabilize our base and we applied for PR in Jan'24. It was rejected in May'24 (4 months) which means that the application didn't make it past the 1st screening as I have seen other rejections coming over a longer time. We were asked that only if there is a change in circumstance to apply again which means what / where we are today doesnt meet the cut. [ps: did not put any citizen recommendation / cover letters]

If I were to look from govt. perspective (assuming i can think from their perspective), my profile looks something which is highly mobile with no intention to settle down long term in Singapore. It may look like i am pursuing this only from employment perspective.

I thought about what can work for us and I have been in the same organization for long time so that may indicate stability. We have not remitted out savings back to India so that may indicate we plan to build our future here. I saw other posts where there are inputs that volunteering / donations are seen as desperate attempts. I am happy to do those if it is worth. I cant buy a house (to show my intention to stick around) due to current levels of duty.

Other than intention, I need to figure out actions to help build the case. While with time, my length of stay will continue to increase but what can i additionally do to indicate to government that i am looking at Singapore from long term perspective.

Appreciate any inputs in this journey. Now plan to apply after 5 years of residency.

Basing a response on other people's inputs, in your case what i gather is you can consider getting your child into a local school, which is extremely hard by itself because your child is a foreigner.

Your job, if it is an in-demand industry, helps. If you haven't to contribute that nobody else can, like being a world champion something, helps. Being filthy rich helps.

Whether you repatriate your savings or not doesn't matter because ICA doesn't use that data. They know how much you earn, they don't know where your earnings go.

Likewise for buying a house, it doesn't matter because in the end though it's an illiquid asset it can be liquidated at any time. It's not viewed positively or negatively.

Volunteering or donations may not be viewed favourably but they are not viewed unfavourably either. It doesn't hurt so if that's what you want to do, go ahead and do it. But you'll get plenty stares here if you want to do it for the sake of PR.

There may be no other reasonable things you can do to indicate your long term stay here.

Thanks for reading through and sharing your inputs. We are not in new age industries and being filthy rich is a pipe dream. We will definitely be above median but that's far away from filthy rich in Singapore's context.

Leaves a lot to ponder about as we bide time.

Here is the thing about the SG PR application process; you could be just 1st person in the waitlist who couldn't make it or you could be the one millionth person in the waitlist, lol. And there is no way you will know how close or how far you are in terms of meeting their PR success criteria.

If you were rejected within 4 months, chances are you are closer to the 1 millionth person than the 1st person in the waitlist.

I know it feels horrible and like a failure, but it is all about understanding the game which you are playing and in this case we are a bit like; we could be world class chess players but this game is table tennis. Just because we are failing in this table tennis game, doesn't mean we are failures.

Either we should just accept it that we like playing table tennis but we will never win the trophy, or we should just quit this table tennis tournament and go and join the chess tournament

Its likely not the pay or International School.

I say this from personal experience and the experience of friends in healthcare AND from accounts on this forum.Certain jobs get PR and citizenship easily EVEN being in a ' minority ' race.
