Any recommendations for a nice buffet dinner under $50 per pax? (Besides hotel buffets)

Last I heard is that you're no longer allowed to get your own food at some of the buffets. Instead, there's a "plater" for you; you tell them what you want and they'll go and fetch it for you.
Introduced during Covid, but I heard some of the buffets have retained this...

Astons at Marina Square and Centrepoint offers a 'salad buffet' along side their main course.

I've tried this and would hardly call it nice, the buffet spread is just a bunch of frozen food while the mains themselves are nothing to shout about.

Do you prefer this or not? I prefer getting my own food because I'm a little picky whereas my husband prefers to have platers do it for him because he finds that that way the food doesn't get messed up by other diners.
