PR Chance 2024 Chinese Indonesian - Some questions

Post by wavingerwin » Fri, 17 May 2024 11:47 am

Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions and seek your kind help. My main goal is to have the best chance to get a PR for myself. I've included my full profile at the bottom of the post.
  • Should I put Chinese or "Chinese Indonesian", or even something else for Race?
Context: I was born in Indonesia to Chinese-Indonesian parents & grandparents. I have documents to prove Chinese ancestry (my parents' name change from Chinese to Indonesian names). I now hold a New Zealand passport, and have let go of my Indonesian citizenship/passport.
  • To increase the chances for me to get a PR, should I apply for myself or include my wife and son?
Context: I have been under the impression that bringing a family is better, but not sure anymore since my wife is not employed in Singapore. We're ok if only I have the PR, so the consideration of including my wife/son is just to help increase chances.

    My Profile
    Basic: 32 / Male / Married
    Race: Chinese Indonesian
    Nationality (passport): New Zealand
Education: PhD (Doctorate) from a reputable Australian University
Current field of work: Tech startup company
Length of work/stay: 1 year (but I have been physically in and out of Singapore, since I have no WFO obligations and flexible working arrangements)
    Salary: $200k gross
    Pass: 2-year EP
    Tax return: N/A

    My wife
    Age: 30
    Race: Chinese Indonesian
    Nationality (passport): Indonesian
Education: Bachelor's Degree with Honours from a reputable Australian University
Job: Mostly Housewife, but owns a small retail business in Indonesia

    My son
    Age: 1.5 (2022)
    Race: Chinese Indonesian

    Hi!

It might be better if u indicate your race as "Chinese" only.

Regarding the PR application, I would like to recommend if you try to apply yourself first since nowadays it's quite difficult to get PR approved by gov.

Wish u luck in your PR application.

Are you asking because you are mixed race?

Chinese Indonesian is not a race.

    Chinese-Indonesian could be.

Singapore allows hyphenated (dual) race designations, but the first race in the combination is used for CMIO classification.

I am honestly not sure if Indonesian as a race is classified under Malay or Others.

Regardless… for immigration purposes, putting Chinese race will be favorable, even though you are officially a New Zealander now. They will consider your entire life history.
