PR application chances of success - Indian expat

Post by goodguys_infra » Fri, 10 May 2024 11:28 am

Hi everyone, New to this forum

I am an Indian expat living in SG for 5+ years along with my wife and a 2 year old son (born in SG). Both of us are working professionals. I am in fintech for the last 3 years and our combined salary is 450k+ per annum. Our combined salary grew exponentially in the last 2 years as we moved jobs.

We applied for PR the first time last Oct and its still under process. I haven't done any volunteering and I keep sending money back home  (didnt know this would hurt my PR application)

Its been more than 6 months since I applied so curious to hear from folks here on my chances for PR approval and what's the usual timeframe of rejection.

6 months wait is nothing. People have waited up to 27 months for a result. Just be patient.

No volunteering -> That’s okay. ICA doesn’t need this anyway.

Sending money home -> Don’t see how this is relevant since ICA doesn’t have access to your bank records…

Time frame 12 to 24 months but have seen it go as long as 27 months. No difference between length of time for approval or rejection. It is what it is. You have to buys your ticket and takes your chances.

Just remember you are not trying to win anything from ICA. You have to beat all the other over-subscribed candidates in your own ethnic group. You are actually competing with them not with ICA. This especially true if in a crowded occupation/skillset.

Not going to be easy. Like SMS mentioned, the Indian category is highly competitive and also overloaded with techies in FIs. What would help you stand out is to prove your integration and the only way to do that is if you are in a stable marriage with a local, but it seems like that boat has sailed for you.

My suggestion is to keep your options open - either reconcile with the fact that you may eventually have to move back to India, OR if you really are keen to move out, then try your luck in another country while you are still under 40.

No one knows. Long processing time does not guarantee approval either. There are people who wait more than 2 years and still get rejected.
