Long shot. Photos of old SIngapore bar required.

Post by The Durian Man » Wed, 24 Apr 2024 6:56 pm

When I used to come over to Singapore in the early Noughties, I used to inhabit a bar that was attached to the Hotel Rendezvous on Bras Basah Road/Prinsep Street. It was set up like a US diner, and had a pool table. It took up the section that the 7-Eleven has in the attached photo.

This is a trip down memory lane, and I'm wondering if anyone remembers it, and has any photos of the interior. The bar disappeared around 2014.

Nope. I only remember (and miss) the Baja Fresh that was attached to Rendezvous at the corner. The salsa bar was great. So many things have come and gone. Chilis is another favorite that bit the dust. Subway hasn’t been the same since it went halal. I still remember the very first Subway in the basement of Orchard Hotel, and Tony Romas was one level up. I was a frequent patron of both.

Anything nostalgic here rarely lasts. We almost lost McDonald’s at Ridout Tea Garden, but it was saved (for now) due to public protest.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeh, I hear you, re things temporary in Sing. I'd come back a year later to find favourite haunts gone. The one that has remained - thankfully - is Wing Seong Fatty's at Albert Street.

Ah, the changing landscape of Singapore! It’s always bittersweet to see old favorites disappear, but glad to hear Wing Seong Fatty's is still going strong.
