What would you suggest they do instead that would have a real impact on China?maneo wrote: ↑Fri, 22 Mar 2024 5:05 am"Dose of its own medicine"???
While ByteDance may be a Chinese company, China really has no vested interest in TikTok.
It's an annoyance to them as well.
The lame excuses for justifying the US ban are nonsense.
The so-called precious "data" of TikTok users is worthless.
Nothing to gain from all massive "info" the self-absorbed that likely have very low voting participation.
This act of banning TikTok essentially just "self-pleasuring."
It makes the lawmakers & supporters feel good a if they actually did something, but has no real impact on China.
ByteDance gets to cash out while interest in TikTok is still riding high & they get move on to other things.
Might be good for ByteDance in the long run.
Regardless of whether it is or isn't important or whether it is stupid or not, China seems to be annoyed about it. So yes - just a dose of their own medicine. Should give the CCP some more of that.maneo wrote: ↑Fri, 22 Mar 2024 5:05 am"Dose of its own medicine"???

Isn't it quite presumptuous to think that the west & the US in particular can do anything to have a "realmalcontent wrote: ↑Fri, 22 Mar 2024 9:21 amWhat would you suggest they do instead that would have a real impact on China?
It has been awhile.sundaymorningstaple wrote: ↑Sat, 23 Mar 2024 12:22 pmOh, @maneo been a while. Good to see you back on the board.
Banning TikTok might stop new "challenges" from appearing for awhile, but don't you think something else will just crop up to take over & fill the vacuum?sundaymorningstaple wrote: ↑Sat, 23 Mar 2024 12:22 pmChina notwithstanding, getting rid of tiktok might stop a lot of stupidity in the youth of the US today. Things like tide pods and other dangerous stunts that other equally stupid kids try and end up offing themselves. But, then again, maybe a good way to help clean up the gene pool there.....
