Hi guys,
I have my PR approved 1 Mar 2024, now I am running through all the required documents and things to do for the PR formalities completion.
There is 1 thing I want to make sure, I have a softcopy of the birth certificate English translation, but not the hardcopy. ICA ask for the original and the translation, Is it ok if I just bring the PRINTED version of the translation? Anyone has similar experience?
Thanks
No, they may not accept the printed version of the softcopy for translation. The main purpose of PR formalities is to verify the original document and not just to provide a hardcopy of the original document. They need to know the authenticity. If you dont have the original translation in sg, then ask your family to safe courier it to you. Its just plain simple, and you can get it in a week. You have 2 months to complete formalities, so getting the translation delivered to you should not be a problem.
If you insist on showing your duplicate hardcopy of your translation to ICA on the formalities completion day, at least call or email to ICA regarding this before you go to formalities completion. This can save you from problems on the day of pr formalities. I can already sense what the ICA officers will reply you when you ask them regarding this and it is going to be "Sorry, you are required to bring the original of your translation for verification". I will only be surprised if they accept your printed copy of translation. If they do accept, then you can inform the forum here.
