Effective over the counter cough syrup

Can anyone recommend an effective one for stubborn cough? Some of the brands I tried has no use ...

One is Abrilar or Prospan. Was given by GP but is available at Guardian.

For lozenge GP gave VIocil. I found it to better than strepcils n Vicks. Also available online and in shops.

If by stubborn, you mean that you have phlegm that you struggle to cough up, then you can look into Flumucil which helps to loosen the mucus.

We always buy halls cough drops when back in the US (different formulation than Halls here) and it works well for mild coughs, however, they must be kept in the fridge or they get mushy.

In Europe you can get lozenges that are laced with codeine… they work well even for the extreme coughs.

Sorry to say, but I’ve yet to find a syrup that worked even for the mildest of coughs.

try saline wash in your nose. And install a saline humidifier in your room. Salt is a great for killing virus and bacteria.
