PR Application: Additional Documents Requested

Post by FrontMan » Sat, 24 Feb 2024 10:08 pm

Hi Group,

Profile: Indian family - me, wife, daughter & son.
In SG since last 5 years.
This is my 2nd PR application, applied in Apr. ICA emailed asking additional documents ( last 6 months payslip, Form IR8A and confirmation on kids school).
I have recently did my last day at job (lost job due to restructuring) and opened a consulting company in Singapore. Already got a client onboard who pays similar to what I use to make in my full time job.
Should I proactively inform ICA of my status change or just submit the information that they have asked for?
I have only one week to submit documents so any guidance here would be helpful.

How were you able to open a "consulting company"? You need a work permit, most likely an employment pass to work for your own company. If you don't have one, you are working illegally in Singapore.

Hi SE, I have moved to ONE Pass from EP during my PR application. I haven’t yet informed ICA of that, should I include that too as part of my upload of requested documents?

Mate, if you're dragging down the required $30,000 per month for the ONE Pass, that's $360K per year, a top earner. I judge that to be both good news and bad news.

And if you are asking for my opinion, yes, you need to let the ICA of your change in circumstances... they may know already that you now hold a ONE Pass and no longer have an EP because of linked interagency databases, so why keep them in the dark?

Your salary is good news in that you've got 5 years in Singapore and are a top earner. One would think that this would be a positive, given your time in Singapore.

OTOH, your high salary may be seen as detrimental. I specifically recall a banker making over $300K per year whose PR application was rejected. We never know MoM's reasoning, but, the SWAG is that this person transferred in with a high salary, only had 2 or 3 years in Singapore, and could just as easily be transferred out. Or, it could be that the gahmen is looking for PR's who are the "average joe", average income, that blend into the population.

Good luck on your application and please keep us informed.

Just curious, when did you last apply for PR and how long was it pending? Is this the first time they've asked for additional information, and any big changes that could have drove that?

I understand the comments on high salary. At the same time, such salaries are just commensurate with some of the add'l jobs that have emerged here over the years. The potential for people to move on to greener pastures will likely never be eliminated. At the same time, you have no centre / hub if you can't bring in and keep (at least) some of the people to begin with.

With two kids, there's some reasonable chance (IMO). I don't know exactly what you are doing. It is possible that they sit on it for a while to see if the revenue from your own thing is as stable as a salary? Just some thoughts.

Anyways, best of luck and regards.

Hi FrontMan, wish you all the best and yes, its better if you can actively inform ICA of your status change.

Slightly deviating from the topic, i request you if you can share what is your field of job, job role and the education background you had for this job. Just asking this as it could be helpful for many others to have a career that gives earning like you.

@FrontMan We are also in same situation. I received email from ICA in mid February to submit my family CV, my wife's family CV and my past 6 months pay slip.

Still, our application is pending. Did you get any updates?

Unfortunately, my EP was cancelled yesterday, Since I'm a Ph.D. holder from Singapore, I have applied for 'One Pass'.

Can I know how long it took for your one pass to get approved?

@hopeislife I suppose you have not completely read the information about one pass. There are some exemptions for 30K per month like academic researcher.

Oh yeah, thanks, i read it in detail. At least now i feel better, that I too can meet ONE PASS requirements. However, it is left to MOM to approve as we dont know what their calibration is.

When searching it says, it can take a month to process onepass.

Thanks for the update. If you have read enough posts, you can understand that 5yrs length of stay is nothing out of ordinary if you are indian and applying for pr. It takes an average of 8 to 10yrs for an indian to get pr here. Moreover, you have not mentioned your ages. If you and your spouse are nearing 40 it could be a small factor attributing to the rejection. Also, high salary always does not mean approval.

If you still aim to become pr, stay longer in sg and keep contributing.
