Post by cataluna2k » Wed, 21 Feb 2024 1:07 pm

Hi, I recently lost my job and the jobs that I am applying for are mostly for locals and PR holders. My application is pending since June 2023. I am looking for expert advice whether I should continue to be hopeful and wait or give up and go back to Malaysia.

Me as the only applicant
Nationality: Malaysian Chinese
Age: 44
Years in SG: 1.5 years
Marital status: single
Income: $140k
Job: Distribution Manager in Healthcare/Biotech industry

Im not expert but i would say the only reason to be hopeful is that you being malaysian chinese. Apart from that everything you listed seems to be negative and to top all that the biggest problem will be you being not in job now. This can be a big problem unless you can secure another job very soon and based on most posts from here, losing job may auto-reject your pr application. But i think should be fine if you can be re-employed before your short term visit pass expires.

If you were much younger and of childbearing age, maybe had good chance.

But you’re in your 40s so the chances of you having kids at a later age is low. Furthermore, you’re single as well. SG needs babies.

Don’t be surprised by a rejection.
