Hi there,
Can someone please help me understand when the PR status comes into effect? I currently have the IPA and I'm gonna complete the PR formalities soon. From what I understand after reading this forum and other sources, the PR status comes into effect as soon as I complete the formalities in person at ICA. However, I wanna confirm a few additional things:
1. When does Singpass show the PR IC?
2. When is the official date of being PR?
3. When / how soon can we start accessing PR specific privileges like applying for visitor visas?

For question 1, singpass does not show automatically on the PR IC after completing the formalities. You have to setup a new singpass after getting the new NRIC. It may take 1 or 2 days after you complete the PR formalities. Im not sure if the new singpass can be setup on the same day. May be i will update after i finish my formalities.
For question 2, yes, official date of being pr is when you complete the PR formalities.
For question 3, You will need singpass to apply any visitor visa for others. So again, i think it may take 1 or 2 days for new singpass to get tied with new PR IC. May be others can update.
By the way you can also contribute back to the forum by sharing your profile/story of your pr application so other readers can benefit. By any guess, is your length of stay less than 5 yrs?
