SG marrying foreigner

Post by Purezen » Mon, 05 Feb 2024 9:14 pm

Hi, I am a SG citizen wanting to solemnize in ROM with a foreigner. I am 30, she is 31. She used to be S-pass but no longer. I have applied PMLA for her and it was approved in a week. We are waiting for a good time to ROM. However I have doubts for housing. Should I BTO with her under SG/NC scheme or (I am only child) BTO with my father (divorced from my mother and does not have a flat) under parent/child scheme. I do not know what is the best course of action to take or if there is any other way I have overlooked for the future. Please kindly advise me, It would be greatly appreciated!

Are you close to your dad? Do you see yourself staying with him and wife for a long time? If not I would not recommend that route in case he remarries

I don’t see any downside if you formalise your wedding now. Whether you choose BTO or resale can be reviewed again.

Good luck

Yes, she say up to me to plan. Hence I want to know all the options I have.

I'm not an expert on HDB rules, but what would happen in the scenario where your father gets remarried and wants to a flat with his new wife? Would it not be better if you BTO with your spouse in that case?

I would suggest you give HDB a call and ask.

The question I can think off
1. Loan and loan duration.

2. Does your dad have HDB before with your mother?
