These days we must be very careful on social media what we say. News outlets now just pick up posts from social media and make article out of them.

Truthhurts1 kept saying here that he doesnt want to go back to India and now we know the reason. But honestly in my family I have seen 2 divorce cases and women almost get nothing. Indian courts are so lax, it takes years and years to get a judgement and most cases, the women just want mutual agreement and no alimony or child support, just to get rid of the husband as soon as possible. But even in cases where they ask for alimony, the amount is really peanuts as per Indian standards it is like 10k rupees a year or something, which is like $200.

Truthhurts1 is trying to gain a lot of sympathy, but comeon man, you are renting a $3700 house and you are earning 150k in Singapore, there is no way you can blame the divorce in India for the $120k debt. The truth is something else.

My brother was in a similar situation about 15 years ago (credit card debt almost equal to his annual income), and it took some very extreme budgeting and the help of my dad and myself, he closed all of his credit cards, consolidated his debt and started paying it off every month while just surviving on a bare bones budget. Took him four years, but he finally paid it all off. Today he is mostly debt free and has never been better off financially, but mainly thanks to his better half since he got married 5 years ago.
