What kind of pass is most suitable?

Post by albertl » Tue, 12 Apr 2005 11:23 pm

Hello!

I am moving to Singapore from Sweden with my wife. I have been granted a scholarship to study at the National University of Singapore for 1 year. I am moving with my wife who shall study at a Swedish University from Singapore (it is called distanse-study).

Does anyone know which kind of visit pass that is suitable for my wife? Social visit pass or student pass?

And how do we apply for them?

Thanx!

Pass to move to Singapore

Post by Vanyh » Thu, 14 Apr 2005 11:34 am

Hi,

You can find information on the different passes from ICA website: http://app.ica.gov.sg/serv_visitor/index.asp

I recommend that you call ICA (+656391 6100) and tell what you do in Singapore (which pass do you actually have?) and tell what your wife will do here, and what they suggest you both to apply as passes.

Then you can download the relevant passes from ICA site, where you find also the list of documents to provide along with the forms. Once they are filled, you deposit them at the immigration (Lavender MRT station).
Beware that it takes time to get those passes!

Let me know if you need more help! When do you move to Singapore?

Thanx for the information. I will call them.

I will study at NUS and therefore get a student pass.

I would expect NUS International Student Affairs to be able to help you.

You wife certainly won't get a Student Pass as she is not registered with a school in Singapore

Good luck; it won't be easy...

Perhaps when you have the answer you can post it on this site for the benefit of others?
