Man assaulted 'good Samaritan' who tried to return phone left by mistake in Grab car, gets jail

Post by Pal » Thu, 21 Dec 2023 12:33 am

This aggression towards the returning victim is really uncalled for. I wonder what caused the rage and assault. Feels sorry for the victim :?

"The victim tried to return a phone that was left behind in a Grab car, but was brutally beaten up and left bedridden for weeks."

Almost 3.5 years to be charged in court. Could the defence counsel been delaying the trial?

The courts were backed up with POFMA cases, defamation cases against citizens by the government, and death penalty appeals.

And perhaps the optics of caning a rich white foreigner were best avoided.

 I feel the sarcasm here

Or perhaps delayed or timed deliberately by the defence to cross the above 50 age.

IMO sentence is too light compared to the sufferings the victim had gone through. Hope they have more success in the civil suit.

Just to be clear I wasn't being sarcastic. An example of sarcasm would be "Singaporean efficiency at it's finest".

If the defence can delay a case by 3 years that's a sign something is seriously broken in the legal system. Of course we cannot expect the government-run media to question this let alone point out the delay.

Should get 2-3y of jail and compensation/damages of 50-150k. That would seem more fair. Unless we don't know the whole story. What a complete *beep* *beep*.

Agree, sentence too short.

The injury must be very serious to be bedridden for weeks. All these for returning a lost phone! He must have regretted to be a good Samaritan

It's not uncommon for cases to be delayed. The legal system is clogged everywhere.

Minimally! Assault is never okay!
