Checking Chance of Citizenship

Post by patukripot » Sun, 26 Nov 2023 11:04 am

• A 20-year-old Indian family living in Singapore.
• Family of 3 and PR since 2009. Both work, combined annual income of 130K.
• HDB owner since 2014.
• As a family, I applied for citizenship in January 2023 and the status is still pending.
• Since nursery school, he has been a student at the local school.
• Nov 2023 - Son completed A level exams.
• An NS enlistment is scheduled for January 2024 for my son.
• If I withdraw Son's application, can I ask him to apply separately for Citizenship, as the chance of him getting approved will be greater?

If you've already got an application pending, why not just wait for the result? They'll know all your ages and that your son is starting NS.

do not withdraw your son's application.
in fact you should write in and inquire about the status, and write that your son's entering NS in Jan 2024

Received Rejection. ask to apply if change in circumstance. Any valuble input to increase the approval chances.
Son currently in NS

Apply for him separately once he completes his NS.
After that apply for you both.

Likely your age, salary combined with ethnic quota would be the reason for rejection. Except for salary, the others cant be improved

I would consider apply one more time as a family after your kid completes NS but before he turns 21, although it may not change anything. After that, there's no option but to apply separately.

If planning to continue studies locally, one consideration is the university fees and tuition grant/bond.

Rejected because the criteria for pr and sc approval for indians have become very tough after 2010. Since you guys have got pr before 2010, it would have been very easy to get pr at those times. Welcome to real world competition. I have a colleague who is around 55 yrs old and he said applied for SC as a family i.e, father, mother, son and daughter. His son was serving NS during the citizenship application. ICA has rejected the parents and the daughter while approving only the son.

May be you can try one more time for sc as family, if it gets rejected, then your son can apply alone on his own.
