Rental Negotiation

Post by raptor_from_vietnam » Sat, 04 Nov 2023 6:58 pm

Hi all,

May I ask what would be a reasonable negotiation point from asking price for house rental in the current market? I remember the market was quite tight last year so many landlords did not give much discount. But now it should be different?...Would a 10% to 15% bargaining from asking price be reasonable?

It probably depends on what their ask is (still inflated, sensible, or very reasonable). Where have units actually been transacting in the last month or so in your development? Then, it is what other options do you have/are you willing to move vs. is the landlord willing to (potentially) let it sit idle.

Generally speaking, your figures probably aren't too far off (maybe closer to 10%?). One could also ask why people need to waste time negotiating vs. just starting with a fair price, take it or leave it (like when you walk into a store).
