PR Approval Chance

Post by HaleyThanhVanTran » Thu, 19 Oct 2023 10:03 pm

My bf is PR
He is Malaysian and been working in Singapore for more than 3 years
His salary is around 120k per year and he bought HDB 2 room in Singapore in 2022.

My profile is
I have been living in singapore for 5 years, studied in International School for bachelor degree and worked for big 4 for 1.5 years then go back my homecountry at the moment. I will be taking my master degree in SMU in Aug24.

We are planning to get married in this December. I just wonder if I also could apply PR after we got married?

Advised to wait two years after marriage before applying.

Having a baby helps but needless to say shouldn’t be the main reason.

Just be aware your time in SG is reset to zero every time you leave the country for an extended period of time that isn’t a holiday…

You can’t use “been living in SG for past 5 years” any more if you’re currently taking a long break in your home country.

If you are getting married this December but not starting your Masters until Aug 2024, perhaps you could try getting an LTVP late this year or early next year. I'm not even sure this is going to be easy, but if successful that would at least start building up time in Singapore before trying to transition to PR. If not, just stay on your Student Pass until the enough time has passed (or as long as you are a student) and then try to transition to LTVP-->PR or just PR directly.

Note, spouse of PR may be more challenging than spouse of SC, and in some cases even the latter isn't simple.

Good luck.

I agree to the statement by NYY1. I am Singaporean, and my spouse has been waiting for her PR result for a year now. Although we already have a Singaporean child 1 year old, our chances are still not good.

Hang in there. I feel you will eventually be OK this time. Nevertheless, I understand the feelings.

Best of luck and regards.

What is the process for appeal? Do they acknowledge and create new reference number ?
