PR chances in 2023?

Post by PRinSingapore23 » Thu, 28 Sep 2023 2:47 pm

Hi,

I am thinking of applying for a PR and have heard that waiting times have lengthened while approval rates have dipped. Wanted to check what my likely odds are of getting a PR?

Nationality: Malaysian
Race: Chinese
Marital status: Single
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Occupation: Finance Director for F&B MNC
Salary: S$300k annual
Education: Masters from Oxbridge, Undergrad from UK top 10 Uni
Time in Singapore: Almost 2 years

Appreciate your thoughts!

Gender: Male
Age: 37
Salary: S$110k annual
Time in Singapore: 9 years

Hi PRinSingapore23, i would like to ask you a question not entirely related to this thread. If you are comfortable, can you share us what is the educational and career pathway to become such a finance director for F&B MNC like you. I ask this as it could help younger people to explore such options if possible and could be motivating, if they happen to read this thread. Also, it could enlighten people from other sectors regarding your field. If it is ok for you, kindly share which courses to take and which jobs to pursue and reach such a finance director position at 29. Thanks. If you dont feel to share its ok.

Hi,

I studied finance in the top UK universities (top 5 undergrad, oxbridge for masters), then did management consulting in Mckinsey/Bain/BCG for 3 years, private equity for 3 years, and recently moved into this position. Not too unusual amongst my peers, but luck definitely played a big factor too.

Now hopefully my PR gets through so I can actually afford purchasing property in Singapore...

Hopefully! The wait has been more than 9 months, and I have friends with similar profiles waiting a year+ too. Guess ICA has really tightened the borders.

Definitely. But the wait means nothing, stay patient.

Just to update the status, my application is rejected after 6 months.
I have just got the EP, does it make sense to apply again? Or wait 1-2 years?

Thank you
