PR chances

Post by Smtr_sg » Wed, 30 Aug 2023 10:27 am

Hi

We have recently been considering applying for PR and was looking to get some feedback on our chances.

Profile:

Male 37, female 31, two sons 6 and 3 years old (born in SG) wife and I both caucasian & British.

I’m on an EP, my wife has a small business here. She’s on DP and has LOC. Both boys DP’s

Been here for 8 years.

Work in finance. Fixed salary $120k with bonus $200k

Neither of us attended university. I hold a few professional qualifications.

Thank you

Toss up honestly. Length of stay in singapore is good, as well as the fact that both boys were born here. Another plus point is the fact that they are boys, meaning that come time they'll be able to serve NS. Salary is OK. That being said, ethnic quota is incredibly small as you fall under the others category which will be tough.

Thank you for your reply. Will lack of degrees play a big part in the decision do you think?

Normally it generally would detract from the application, but if you have gotten and remained on an EP, then that issue is not necessarily a deciding factor. However, depending on how they view/ interpret changes at MOM may pose a problem keeping the EP. If that happens, the all bets are off the table. No anecdotal evidence which way they will go in instances like that. Good possibility of having to be downgraded to an S pass, but again, we don't have any anecdotal evidence about the future. At this point it's a "you buys your ticket and takes yer chances". :-k [-o<

I’ve been on an EP since I moved here. I’m not too fussed about staying on an EP or having to go to an SPass once the new criteria comes in providing my family can still stay on DP’s. My EP is up for renewal
again May 2025 so will be subject to points system for renewals.

When you say all bets are off - is this in relation to applying/getting approved for PR should I be on an SPass?

One thing i dont really understand from this forum, is why citizens of developed nations want to apply sg pr? Most likely they are not going to convert to SGC, so at least it can be given to those who are more likely to settle here for ever.

IMO chances are low ‘cos of racial quota even if you have two boys that can potentially serve NS. The “Others” quota has largest amount of applicant vying for the least amount of quota available.

Do take note PR is a stepping stone to Singapore citizenship. How likely will a Brit give up citizenship to take on SC?

Your salary might make you a flight risk too since you can take up a job overseas that offers higher pay.

Yeah, i know whom you are referring to, it is Petergreene. His post was not just nonsense or comical, but disrespected sg women too much. But, this person may not be that guy.
