Greetings!
I don't currently live in Singapore but would like start a business there in near future. I would like to hire a Private investigator to check out some of my future business associates to make sure I don't taken on some unscrupulous individuals. Not being there has a whole bunch of disadvantages and would like some help.
I am in the technology area but not sure that is all that relevant. I just want to make sure the individuals are honest about their qualifications and also confirm various business aspects.
Of course this is problem hiring an investigator as well, please recommend one that you may have used or know somebody else has hired and was happy with them. I have googled and found tons of the, but I don't know if they are honest or any good at all.
Thank you!

You need an ex cop so they can access their network. You're right to be cautious.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or
http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Networking. I am checking with some friends who do this sort of thing. We've had problems in my industry (offshore oil and gas) with people disappearing with payments etc so somemone will know who to use.

Very interesting, not sure how common this is in SG. Do you have any contacts here? They might know someone if it's common in your industry?

How would they still have access if they're no longer policemen?

Funnily enough, my brother-in-law here in Miami is a PI. I do know of one contact in Singapore, however, he mostly deals with cheating spouses.

And when you find them do you make them bear the cost of the PI?

Face to face networking. Old style. Not IT related but related to who you know and how close of a friendship you maintained after leaving.

Good point, you're probably right. At the end of the day, when we strip away all the tech, we are left with the relations we have built with others.
