Applied for 89 days extension but given only 30days

Post by korosensei » Mon, 14 Aug 2023 1:10 pm

Hi

anyone same situation as mine. my husband (PR) applied for my mom for 89days extension visa. However, upon approval they only given my mom 30days. We seek extension because my baby got medical condition that she needs to stay home for 4months and my mom is taking care of her because both of us are working and her nanny already got full time job.

any thoughts on this?

Thank you

So little information.

- Your mother has been in SG on STVP for how long already?
- Did she have STVP extended previously?
- Are you a citizen or PR?
- If you are a citizen of PR, why aren’t you the one applying LTVP for your own parent?

ICA is already very kind to entertain an application for a parent-in-law. Usually it’s the applicant applying for their own parents, not for in-laws.

https://www.ica.gov.sg/enter-depart/extend_short_stay

Extension of Stay

All STVP extension applications must be submitted online. Walk-in applications will not be accepted.

Visitors who need to extend their STVP may submit an application for extension of stay by using the e-Service, up to 14 days before the STVP expires. This facility is only applicable to STVPs issued by ICA and can be used to apply for an extension of stay for either up to 30 days or up to 89 days (only for applicants with immediate family members who are SC/PR). The period of extension granted is subject to ICA’s assessment.

89 days is only for immediate family members of SC/PR. So for your case since your husband is applying for his mother-in law, which is not an immediate family member of applicant. Thus, 30 days of extension of STVP only.

Write to them directly , explain them the situation .
Offer them medical records as conformt factor. This should work. They are usually very sympathetic

yes, we attached the medical cert because my baby take a lot of meds which should be taken religiously and i cant find a replacement nanny who is okay to feed my baby on her meds because they are afraid of responsibility.

i see how if can extend for another 30days, after this first extension
