Hello Forum Members,

I am on Employment Pass, recently moved to Singapore with my daughter who is studying in Grade 6 and two sons (newborns). FYI, I am a 42 year old male working in tech industry.

I would like to hear from people who have kids who will soon go to college. I would like to know how easy it is for foreigners to secure a position in college. Given my age, I don't think I will get PR anytime soon (or ever), so I would like to know if someone is in similar situation.

Although my kid still has 7 years before college but I want to make an informed decision about whether to stay in Singapore or move.

Any pointers?

PS: If I am on employment pass, I don't think my kids can stay with me once they are 21 years old as dependents. Correct me if I am wrong.

For the public universities (NUS, NTU, SMU), it will be very hard, kids on DP have to compete with international students from other countries, no bonus points for them. Because of this, many DP holders move to study abroad, or the families move out from Singapore by the time their kids graduate from high school.

Another option is choosing a private university + staying on a Student Pass, but most of the private unis don't have the best opinion.

I think international students make up about 10% of the local university population. Similar to international or out-of-state admissions elsewhere, the selection criteria are usually more demanding than it is for residents. Also, for non-locally schooled students, I think what you need to submit depends on what qualifications you have (IB should be straightforward, others may need SAT/ACT and some AP tests if I recall correctly).

Another consideration is to look at the local university fees with and without the Tuition Grant.

For God's sake and to maintain the sanity of the readers, why dont you stick to one theme of your story rather than redefining your profile multiple times? Its ok that you dont want to reveal your identity to the extent that you wish, but why change your details for each post.

In the above post you mentioned you are 42, and two sons are just newborns. Also you say you moved just recently.

After I come back, I would like to apply for PR and hope to get it by 2028. In case it helps, I make 200K per year (SGD) and I have two sons and I am an Indian.

When I apply for PR, do you think my current stay in SG from 2018 will be considered or it will be a fresh start from 2024? It would also be great if someone who is in similar boat can share their experience as well. Thanks.

In this post, you mention that you came in 2018 (that is 5 years ago and nowhere near 'recently' like you said before).

My age is now 50 years and I am thinking of applying for PR. Any suggestions or views on chances of getting PR at my age? Did anyone get their Pr at the age of 50 in Singapore?

Here, you mention that you are already 12years living in Sg and that your age is 50(not 42) and the sons are 10yrs old (not just born?).

I dont understand why do you want to create new details about yourself each time.

That's not the half of it.......apparently his first post was made after his return to India and not while still here as and as he is cloud based, his location as well as his age and the ages of his sons and his length of stay here are all in a state of constant flux. I think he might be related to PeterGreene. Couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it.

I was trying to make sense of these posts and actually some of the info that this guy has provided might be correct, just that he wants to fast forward his life to future (without any time machine) and seek answers from this forum at that point of time.

This might be his current situation. Daughter in grade 6 and two newborn sons.The only thing he is faking here is that he moved to SG recently (may be to cast doubts in mind of readers so that people don't relate him to his previous posts). He wants to know if his daughter can get admission in local school as a foreigner assuming he and his family don't get PR down the line.

Here he mentioned that he came to SG in 2018 which might be true. May be he had an opportunity to move out last year which he didn't take eventually.

This is where all the confusion comes from. But as I said earlier, here he wants to visualise his life in SG 7 years down the line and seek answers based on that. He just wants to know if he will have any chances of getting PR 7 years later. Kids' ages might not tally exactly but you miss a few things when you lie so much.

As for the locations from where he posted, he might be sitting in any part of the world using VPN and we will never know about it.
