PR Chances - 2023

Post by jinjinir » Wed, 19 Jul 2023 1:48 pm

Hi!

May I have your inputs regarding our chances of having our PR application approved?

Husband: (Principal/Main Applicant)
Nationality: Filipino
Age: 39
Marital status: Married (1 year)
Education: Bachelors from Top PH Institution
Occupation: Software Engineer
Length of stay in SG: 6 years, 3 months
Current Pass type: EP
Annual Salary: ~ S$110K+ (Base + Bonus)

Myself (Wife)
Nationality: Filipino
Age: 34
Marital status: Married (1 year)
Education: Bachelors from PH Institution
Occupation: Software Engineer
Length of stay in SG: 1 year, 6 months
Current Pass type: EP
Annual Salary: ~ S$110K+ (Base)

Additional Info:
- We have a baby boy born here in SG this year (2023) and he is currently under DP
- Both our jobs are in the "Shortage Occupation List"

Thanks in advance for your insights!

I don’t see any “software engineer” job titles in the shortage occupation list.

Chances are low in general due to racial quota. Your spouse has been here for less than 2 years and it’s kinda short. You normally apply for PR after one renewal of EP.

Perhaps the jobs are different but another somewhat similar applicant.

Best of luck and regards.

'Software Developer' and 'Software Engineer' job titles are used interchangeably and I think both should be covered in Shortage Occupation List under 'Software Developer'.

You use the title that is stated in your employment contact, not what you think is “used interchangeably” since ICA =/= MOM.

Listing that your occupation is on “occupation shortage list” may not necessarily earn you any special brownie points.

Even without looking at your job title, chances are still low since your high salary deems you a flight risk as you can easily leave SG for greener pastures.

This is also the exact same reason why ICA doesn't want cover letters with PR applications. It's purely a self-aggrandizement exercise and everybody knows it.
