Question regarding notice period and pay

Post by truthhurts1 » Sat, 08 Jul 2023 3:04 pm

hello everyone I wanted to know the rule regarding notice periods.
I am serving my notice period of 3 months now.
I would like to take 14 days off this notice period in lieu of 14 days leave that is pending, will these 14 days be deducted from my last salary or will I be paid full salary as usual.
Thank you very much and please advise.

Ask your HR. Only they will know. Others have not worked in your company before and won’t know if their practice is the same as your company’s practice.

Depends on your contract. Leave entitlements and leave during notice should be spelt out there or in staff handbook (if any). Generally speaking, if you are owed leave days, you'd either get time off or pay in lieu. But it really depends what you signed up for.

I think you need to ask your HR as to whether you could offset your leave in the notice period. I know of some companies which are very strict and have to fulfill a 3-month notice period.

Thank you for all your comments and help.. I just negotiated with my new employer that I would join after I finish my 3 months of notice period, its easier I guess.
