CoC - Fingerprinting for other countries

Post by disaidia » Wed, 05 Jul 2023 10:07 pm

Hi all, I need to get this police clearance (certificate of clearance) from Canada, in which I have worked in the country some years ago.

Basically I need to get my fingerprints printed and send it to Canada for the checking.

Wondering if anyone here have done something similar? Based on my searches, it seems that I will need to head down to police cantonment, do I need to present any other documents to state why I need it? Or can I just go down and get my prints printed?

Or do I need to provide more information?

Why don’t you start by telling us what kind of immigration status you are applying for in which country, and which government has requested your police records.

CoC refers to Singapore police clearance, not Canadian police clearance. Are you trying to get the Canadian equivalent of Singapore’s CoC? Because Cantonment is where you go to get Singapore’s CoC.

The way I read it is that he's trying to get certified fingerprints to send to Canada for a Canadian equivalent to the CoC to satisfy the authorities (whoever they are Gov't or Private).

But I do not know the answer.

Back when I helped my brother do this for his foreign spouse, the US side specified acceptable fingerprinting options, both paper and 3rd parties, which were limited overseas. I would expect Canada to do the same.

I understand that the Singapore authorities tend to be stingy about helping anyone with such things unless it helps Singapore or Singaporeans. For example, to get Singapore CoC for US immigration purposes, they require special documentation from the US embassy that it is absolutely required, unless you are a Singaporean. This can make it very difficult for foreigners who spent years working here and need CoC to immigrate.
