That may have contributed to the media buzz, but in all fairness only 2/5 passengers were billionaires and neither was very well known.

I believe I would have had the same response regardless of who was onboard. Crazy freak accident - the idea of implosion is just a lot to wrap your head around. Also the irony of history repeating itself - the OceanGate founder was told the vessel was unsafe for the journey but went along with it, in the same way the captain of the titanic went full steam ahead despite knowing about icebergs in the area. Both perished.
