We were staying in the same house for 7 years. We had proper tenancy agreement till last year 2022. Later in 2023 we dint signed up contract. As tenant we forgot and as well as landlord they never reminded us.
Suddenly one day landlord comes and ask us to move out in 1 weeks time or signed a new contract with 75% increase in rental fee. Hence we choose the first option to move out.
Hence we moved out on 6th day, and house was clean by professional cleaner and house was handed over to LL in the same condition the way we got.. Few wear and tear was there as we stayed for 7 years which was out of our control.but nothing was damaged .
Now after the inspection of the house we handed over keys to Landlord as that time they say we are in rush and send the deposit after checking.
Now it's 9 days they are not responding to our mag even after they see the msg.. we are everyday msg them but no response...
As foreigners we don't know what to do.. who is wrong and who is right... we need some guidance how to pursue this matter.
We have send the Letter of demand to LL .
What would be the next step after this.. as the deposit money is quite a lot...
Thank you

SCT (Small claims tribunal). Cheap and effective.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or
http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

SCT is the best option, you'll want to prepare your evidence ahead of time to make the process as easy as possible.

Have you followed through with filing a case with the SCT?

I wondered about that last night and I have my doubts that he/she did as they would already know what to do. So I didn't bother to write an answer that would only waste my time. Bet they didn't even look up SCT to find out what it stands for.

Wouldn't surprise me, some people want to be helped but don't want to help themselves.

SCT will only allow him to claim a prorated value of the second hand chair and maybe nothing at all. Tell him to bugger off and you'll see him in SCT.
