Hi everyone.

I recently got my PR approved along with my family. We are both Indians working on EP and a 2 year old son. We have both been in SG for last 12-13 years. This was my 3rd or 4th application (lost track). Took about 18 months for the approval come through.

I have a question for someone who got PR approved. I have a weird tech issue. After I got my PR (issued 6 Sep) and setup my new Singpass, none of the things linked to my old EP number (helper, car, taxes) are showing up when I login using my new Singpass. I emailed ICA, they asked me reach out to Singpass. I called Singpass, they asked me to reach out to each agency. Has anyone faced this?

Please wait for a couple of weeks for things to get linked up.

Hey just one point re helper - I assumed this change would happen automatically once I got PR, but it didn't for me. As a result my GIRO for the helper levy didn't transfer for a couple of months and I was charged late penalty fees (later waived after I explained what happened). So definitely check again.

Congrats though. Hope your Singpass gets linked in a few days. By the way, i would like to ask you the unavoidable question. Do you mind sharing your profile, so that at least it can be a datapoint for indians here.

Thanks. Who do I check with? How did you manage to link it eventually? It has been over a month. Should have been done by now if it was going to happen automatically.

Hey I just had a look at my emails - it was my fault entirely as I was slow to change my details at the bank. So in fact MOM registered the change immediately, but because my new IC didn't match my old one which the bank still had, it didn't go through. Assume you're all squared at your banks!

Seems like you both would be getting more than 200K. But is Bucconi a company name? google says it is an italian university :-k

Yes Bocconi is a university. I work at Citibank and wife at BCG. I don’t think income matters after a certain point. I know friends who earn much higher and have not been approved.

Actually in some industries, like the financial industries, salary over say 250K/pa could be looked at as a potential flight risk, e.g. the salary levels that companies like to parachute into new locations so, Singapore gives a person with that level PR and 2 or 3 years later his bank parachutes him into another country for their operations there. Happens quite often. Why should Sg waste a PR on a potential flight risk?

Hi,

I'd like to share that my PR application has been approved!
Sharing my profile details for everyone here.

Race: Indian
Applicants: Husband (35 years old), Wife (35 years old) and Child, 1 boy (4 years old)
Visa: Both are on EP
Stay: 8 years in Singapore
Time to process PR - 4 months
Number of times attempted : 2 (Rejected in 2016, Applied after 7 years in 2023)

How I believe my profile improved positively following the first rejection.

+ 6 years is pretty good time to bump up the salary and designation
+ 6 years in Singapore based unicorn start up
+ Co-founded a tech meetup, organised 50+ online/offline meetups
+ Started speaking at international conferences, spoken at many conferences across South east Asia, Europe and United States
+ Active SINDA volunteer, I've been mentoring college students as part of SINDA mentorship program

Thank you so much to this forum for all your valuable inputs. All the best!

Something in me says this is just a bogus post by some pr form filling agency guy who wants to lure some customers . There are many tell tale signs/words in this post to make me think so. Anyway, its just a post :-" . In case, if you are really legit, congrats.

Something I already decided was to not involve any agency! All PR agencies are nothing but scam.

All these volunteering ,mentorship are not started with the perspective of PR approval.
I like giving back to community, and will be keep doing the same! :)

Hi Ms.Priya, you cannot compare your profile with those of others as it is not really an apple to apple comparison and no two applications can be similar. As of now your only advantage may be that you have been here for quite some enough time (10 years) but do note that this 10 years seems likes the average time spent by most of the indian applicants applying for pr right now. Of course, this is just based on my experience and observation. If either of you or your spouse have done a local university masters, it can add a few points but may not sway your application to approval. Since you have been here long, you might have known by now that it is an uphill battle for indian pr approval. Having a son, or a higher income is not going to be the deal-making factor. It mostly depends on the job sector and if you are in IT forget it. Son being in international school is generally not seen as a positive, although personally i believe its not fair as school selection is not in one's control. But it is what it is. The only thing you can do for now is wait, and stay longer and try to contribute and apply later.

And don't get taken away by this person's post, as i think it may not be real and it looks like an agency guy. I have highlighted the reasons, but it is just my opinion.

Hi,

I'd like to share that my PR application has been approved!
Sharing my profile details for everyone here. He says he wants to share, but does not want to give the critical details like salary, job field, education, etc. Just gives vague details

Race: Indian He wants to mention indian, as indians are the desperate ones and abundant in number applying for pr for a very small quota. So want to give hope for them and later see if anyone PMs him .
Applicants: Husband (35 years old), Wife (35 years old) and Child, 1 boy (4 years old) Quite coincidental that both husband and wife are same age, not saying its unusual, but looks like as if he does not want to think much about age difference and just put both age as same. Also, most of the indians who apply with family are in this age group of around 35. Again, wants to increase the customer sample size. Wants to say it as a son, indicating that it increased his chances.
Visa: Both are on EP yes, most indians are in the EP, which means they have a better pay who can afford or dont mind to pay few thousands to these pr agencies. So, targeting EP indians.
Stay: 8 years in Singapore Again, this is close to the average length of stay of those indians who apply PR
Time to process PR - 4 months  Wants to say the process time is just 4 months, which is quite impossible in my opinion, even if you tick all the boxes. But, he wants to give this shock to lure people to further ask opinion, who can later become his customers
Number of times attempted : 2 (Rejected in 2016, Applied after 7 years in 2023) Not many wait for 7 years between application, although i am not saying it is wrong. He wants to say the below as his improvements during this time gap, but if you look closely at them it is not of something great. Just usual things most indians do in their job

How I believe my profile improved positively following the first rejection.

+ 6 years is pretty good time to bump up the salary and designation Known fact
+ 6 years in Singapore based unicorn start up Being in start ups are not much of an advantage in my opinion
+ Co-founded a tech meetup, organised 50+ online/offline meetups This looks like those regular suggestions from pr agency people, i.e., organize or conduct social or technical events or meetings related to work or general life. The key would be if you can organize or be a part of such events it means you had more social interaction which they see as integration
+ Started speaking at international conferences, spoken at many conferences across South east Asia, Europe and United States Many professionals do this as part of their job, especially may be someone in finance. Thereby, making this profile look similar to theirs and give hope for them
+ Active SINDA volunteer, I've been mentoring college students as part of SINDA mentorship program
And do I really have to say about volunteering after being in this forum for a while?

Thank you so much to this forum for all your valuable inputs. All the best! just wanted to sound like a genuine person
The above are just my opinion and may be i am wrong. May be the person may come back and say my comments are silly. But it is left to anyone's guess if their post is true or not. In case, if it is true, my deepest apologies. Still quite unbelievable if you ask me.
