Wednesday - Netflix series - Certification rating

Post by Wd40 » Tue, 06 Jun 2023 12:45 am

I wanted to check if the Netflix series Wednesday is appropriate for kids. Found some interesting insights, how different countries rate it.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13443470/parentalguide

Argentina:13 Australia:M (self-applied) Brazil:16 Canada:TV-14 (self-applied) Ecuador:13+ (self-applied) Egypt:18+ (self-applied) France:13 (self-applied) Germany:12 (self-applied) Hong Kong:13+ (self-applied) India:UA 13+ (self-applied) Indonesia:18+ (self-applied) Israel:13 (self-applied) Italy:VM14 (self-applied) Japan:13+ (self-applied) Kuwait:18+ (self-applied) Mexico:TV-14 (self-applied) Netherlands:12 (self-applied) New Zealand:M Norway:12 (Netflix self-rating) Philippines:13+ (self-applied) Poland:13 (self-applied) Singapore:M18 South Africa:13 (self-applied) South Korea:15 (self-applied) Spain:12 (self-applied) Sweden:13 (self-applied) Taiwan:13+ (self-applied) Thailand:13+ (self-applied) Turkey:18+ (self-applied) United Kingdom:12 United States:TV-14 (self-applied) United Arab Emirates:18+ (self-applied) Vietnam:C16 (self-applied)

The western liberal countries like Norway, Netherlands, UK etc have rated at 12

The conservative countries like Indonesia, Turkey and some middle eastern countries rate it at 18

Asian moderate countries India, Philipines , Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwanrate it at 13.

I think this rating pretty much sums up which countries you can have fun and which countries you cannot :)

Singapore feels like a bit of odd one out getting lumped up in the list of conservative countries? :-k

Another series which I wish was more kids friendly is "Queens Gambit".
My daughter is a big fan of chess.

If in doubt about letting my kids watch, Common Sense Media is my go to. They really break it all down - and you can click further for very precise details.

Nowadays the liberal media and far left extremists are applying maximum pressure on film makers to represent every letter from LGBTQQIP2SA++ into their stories… while the vast majority of parents have no interest in their kids being indoctrinated or groomed — yet, few speak out for fear of being labeled.
