First off, congrats! Do you plan to live in Singapore long-term?DoggaK wrote: ↑Sun, 28 May 2023 5:53 pmHi guys, today marks my 1.5 years here in Singapore. A lot of things have happened in this 1.5 years, and I'm still surviving in this country! (Other than the long working hours in my job, but aren't we all? Haha)
So, fast forward to now, I am going to marry my long-term girlfriend (10 years) soon, who is a Singapore citizen (which is why I decided to move to SG in the first place).
I've noticed a lot of posts on this forum talking about the LVTP after their marriage, but I wonder if anyone here knows whether it is okay for me to apply while I am currently holding an S Pass from my company and also applying for the LVTP on the side by myself.
My understanding is that the LVTP allows you to stay in SG even without a work pass, but of course, you will need a proper EP or S Pass to continue working in SG.
I wonder if anyone has some insight to share because most of the posts on this forum from those who applied for LVTP were not holding any EP or work pass in advance.
All the best, everyone! Maybe my question is also your question. Feel free to comment below, and we can share our info. Let's hope this community continues helping out people like you and me on our journey here in SG!
Thanks~

Agree, if he is planning on living in Singapore long-term, it would be better to stay on S pass until they've been married for two years and then apply for PR.NYY1 wrote: ↑Sun, 28 May 2023 7:12 pmAny reason you need the LTVP now (or after you are married)? If you are comfortable with your job, maybe just stay on S Pass and eventually apply PR (either on your own or through your wife) and save the interim hassle.
In the event you lose your job, you should be able to pickup an LTVP then (assuming your wife is working) and regain employment that way (or via another S Pass/EP). I guess there could be some time delays, but unlikely you will be forced to leave the country.

Thanks Mochs! Actually I have already did the PLOC earlier and received positive result, I just not sure if I should really go for it.
