Ex WP holder, got pregnant

Post by MissySords » Thu, 25 May 2023 12:25 am

Been reading the forum.... and It feels so bad..
Worked in Sg for almost 10yrs,as WP holder, Nurse Aide. And got unplanned baby with my SC fiancé, now have 17months baby. I resigned my work 2021 after found out im pregnant. We come Sg almost every 3mos, with 60days visa. Now planned for ROM, but realising need to seek approval from MOM and upon reading all your comments, i feel so bad.. If ever we apply and rejected, will I get banned? Or if rejected, i got no chance to work or apply work again? 🤔 still in denial of things but hoping have some positive situations who got been approved by the MOM like my situation 🙏

You've kind of answered your own questions. You might want to have a plan B if staying in Singapore turns out to be not possible.
I assume you've read about the procedure? https://www.mom.gov.sg/faq/foreign-work ... t-resident

The fact that you worked as a Nurses’ Aide could help your case, as medical workers are needed here. However, having a child out of wedlock, especially if you got pregnant while on a WP… I am sure you know.

All you can do is try. If you and the father of the child are serious, you will find a way to have a life together — even if it’s not in Singapore. There are other desirable countries to live in this world.

Agree. And ever since Covid, medical workers are more in demand than ever worldwide, so she should have no problem finding a job.

Thank you. We talked to MP and asked for help and they write letter to MOM , just received letter for appeal to MOM. Hoping for the best. Hope I won't get banned for having a baby out of wedlock.🙏😥

Honestly, be prepared for rejection. Nursing aide isn’t a full fledged nurse. You all are just giving her false hope. Just look at the qualifications, salary, duties & responsibilities and you can see why only a work permit is needed.

OP need to come up with another plan to stay in another country as a family. Singapore can be very unforgiving to those who don’t follow the rules… Moderator SMS has told the story of his niece’s ex-WP mother so many times already.

Most of us encouraged her to look outside of singapore, I don't understand how that's giving her false hope.

I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you, but I hope for all the best.

mal mentioned “medical workers are needed here” and while you said medical personnel are needed worldwide, OP might have latched onto the idea that because she was a medical worker, MOM will be somehow lenient & forgiving.

Fair enough, at any rate, that was not what I meant. My point was that there is plenty of demand for healthcare workers in other parts of the world, so having to leave SG is not the end of the world.

They consider the needs of society before the needs of the individual… but you are correct, if the individual didn’t follow the rules, they can expect a very tough time.

That said, I have seen some things over the years. My BIL had a very easy time getting an EP after renouncing PR and a friend of mine who was born in SG to a PR mother escaped NS… and was still approved as a first gen PR… so, sometimes you just never know.

Hope is important. Most people in my situation wouldn’t have had hope and would’ve given up after the second EP rejection. I persisted for a full 5 months of EP processing and it finally paid off, through sheer determination, persistence… and hope.

Would’ve been good to have a plan B though, in my case I honestly had none! It was truly Singapore or bust for me.

It's a good thing you're indispensable to your employer. 25 years on EP is probably longest I've ever seen.
