Is working for the government a plus for PR application?

Post by crudBoy » Sat, 22 Apr 2023 12:38 pm

I have joined GovTech as a software engineer for a few months. Is working for the government a plus for my PR application? The base salary is about 9k.

If you just joined I really doubt it would have any bearing. Personally I think it may have some with some longer millage but I also know people working for gov agencies for number of years having their applications rejected.

I can see how working for the government for a long time and making major contributions in the process might work in ones favor. Still, I believe it would only work if there were a number of other favorable factors met.

Nothing is guaranteed or else people will be trying to game the system by getting Govt jobs.

Agree, it's probably very marginal (if anything).
