Renouncing Citizenship and car

Post by lubani » Tue, 18 Apr 2023 6:45 pm

Hello people ,

I was born and raised in sg but recently but in 2018 i have got a nationality elsewhere.

I do not own any properties in sg , my only asset is a Car that is still under hire purchase.

Can anyone tell me if i can still renounce my citizenship and continue with the car installment? I will just pass the car to a family member in sg.

Due to hire purchase issue , it is not possible to transfer car ownership.

i think as long as you pay up the finance company won’t grumble.

you will need sing pass at a later time for convenient vehicle transfer though. else it will mean a flight back to sg?

Just sell off the car . Why keep a depreciating ' asset ' if you aren't coming back.
I wouldn't just pass the car to someone . Insurance coverage might be an issue.
