Malaysian citizenship application

Post by ClearCrystal » Thu, 23 Mar 2023 9:35 am

Hi, would like your thoughts on my application

SC application date: May 2022
Nationality: Malaysian
Race: Chinese
Salary: 65k p.a. as a assistant finance manager in construction sector
Age: 29
Working in SG since Dec 2018.
Applied PR in Jul 2019, approved on Feb 2020.

Am engaged and intent to ROM in Aug 2023, but have yet to apply, fiancé is Filipino (S pass, applied PR in Jan 2021 but rejected in 5 months)

I am thinking of only starting the marriage application after getting SC results, hopefully able to get it by May 2023, if no outcome yet will just start marriage application. Will it affect my SC application if I start the application before getting the result?

I filed for marriage with my wife when her SC application was still pending. Her application was approved 1 week after our solemnisation in Singapore (18 months after application date).

If her application was approved much sooner (assuming you had gotten married before then), then I might believe there was a correlation.

18 months is a relatively normal timeframe (a little long in fact), so these may very well be two separate (but close together) events.

No point delaying. As for your application you stand fairly high chance as a young, Malaysian chinese with an acceptable salary.

Oh I didn’t mean to make a correlation haha, but was just saying the fact of what happened. I do believe that our marriage did not affect her application, but have no way to prove it lol

Thanks for your response. Just worry the chance after being married will be lower.

If anything, the chances should increase. And they'll go way up if you have children.

I see, guess it was just the phrasing.
